Police in Libya have arrested a driver in the Bishr area of the country for attempting to smuggle six undocumented female migrants from Nigeria. The suspect was arrested on Tuesday during a routine police patrol, which intercepted the vehicle. An organisation that monitors migrant activities, Migrant Rescue Watch, said in a statement that the driver lied to the police that the women were his family members to evade arrest. The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission has said that each of the 109 senators in the upper chamber receives a total of N1.06m in salary and allowances per month. It clarified this in response to recent controversies over the real amount each lawmaker earns per month. This means each lawmaker earns N12.72m in 12 months and the Federal Government makes a total expenditure of N1.4bn annually for all senators. The Nigerian Government has signed no fewer than 26 Memoranda of Understanding with foreign countries and agencies in the last 12 months. The MoUs are in the areas of infrastructure, education, trade and investment, tourism, security, Information/Technology, culture, energy and gas, and sports. The MoUs are valued at over N4.2tn. A Federal Capital Territory High Court, on Tuesday, extended an earlier order restricting participants of the #EndBadGovernance protest in Abuja to the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
