. Court restricts protesters in Ogun to MKO Abiola Stadium, three other venues

Ben Ogbemudia, Abuja

Following the insistence of some Civil Society groups to protest against the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Federal Government on October 1st, FCT Police Command, on Monday, deployed more men, explosive and anti-riot equipment in major areas in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, told newsmen at a press conference that they took the strategic action in anticipation of the October 1st Independence Day celebration, and therefore deployed adequate personnel and equipment throughout the FCT.

“This proactive deployments aim to ensure that residents of the FCT enjoy a hitch-free Independence Day celebration,” she said.

She added that the deployment will include Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EoD) personnel, anti-riot equipment, visibility policing, among others.

The PPRO also said there will be traffic diversions in areas expected to experience large crowds, including Central Area and the Eagle Square.

She warned FCT residents that while celebrating Independence Day, they should remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements or activities to the FCT Police emergency lines: 08032003913, 08028940883, 08061581938, 07057337653, PCB: 09022222352, CRU: 08107314192.
