Tension has gripped residents and property owners in Ikene and Odogbolu following the abduction of two motorists travelling along the partially deserted Ikenne-Odogbolu road in the Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on Monday afternoon.
It was learnt that the motorists were travelling along the road to beat traffic congestion on the popular Sagamu-Ore-Benin Expressway before they were kidnapped around 5p.m. on Monday afternoon.

An eyewitness, who himself escaped being abducted, said in a viral video that the two vehicles; a gold coloured Toyota Siena, with registration number plate: (LAGOS) APP 901 HK and a blue coloured Toyota Rav-4 with registration number plate: (LAGOS), allegedly driven by their owners, were abandoned at the scene.
It was also gathered that as of the time police operatives and other good Samaritans got to the scene, the engine of the Toyota Siena vehicle was still running, while the gunmen had escaped with the abducted victims.
In the said viral video, our correspondent also gathered that police operatives, allegedly led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Odogbolu Division, alongside local security outfits and the police Anti-Kidnapping Squad were putting heads together over the matter.
A motorist, who witnessed the abduction and posted the viral video, said he abandoned his own vehicle and fled into the bush after witnessing how their victims, who were some meters away from his own vehicle, were being abducted.
Another eyewitness said on Tuesday evening that three persons were abducted by the suspected kidnappers during the incident.
While identities of the victims had yet to be ascertained as of the time of filing this report, sources, however, confirmed that the DPO of Odogbolu Division, alongside local security outfits and the Anti-Kidnapping Squad, had launched a coordinated manhunt against the perpetrators for the purpose of rescuing the victims and bringing the suspects to book.
When contacted, the command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Oluseyi Babaseyi promised to get back to us for feedback.
However, as of the time of filling this report he had yet to do us.
