A Yoruba socio-cultural group, Olodo-de Yoruba Elders’ Group of Yorubaland has expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, and all security agencies involved in the successful rescue of abducted pupils and teachers of Oriire town in Oyo State from the stronghold of their kidnappers.
The group, in a statement jointly issued by its National Coordinator, Ogbeni Olajide Kamilu and the Special Adviser on Media, Elder Adetokunbo Fakeye (JP), said the feat demonstrated the unwavering commitment of President Tinubu to his mandate of protecting the lives of all citizens.
It would be recalled that the pupils and their teacher were kidnapped from their schools in Oriire, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, on May 15, 2026, and were held captive for close to two months before God’s divine intervention.
The group thanked God for their unscathed recovery, while also rejoicing with the victims, their parents and loved ones for the reunion.
”We, the Egbe Olodo-de Elders, express our special thanks to President Tinubu, the Nigerian Armed Forces, other security agencies, and all stakeholders involved in the search operation, for their unrelenting efforts in ensuring this milestone achievement. We pray that God continues to illuminate your paths.
“We hereby appeal to both the Federal government and Oyo State to compensate the victims families, especially the deceased maths teacher and security officers who lost their lives during the rescue operation. “May God comfort their families.” the statement added.
It, however, called for sustained collaborative efforts by all tiers of government and security agencies to fortify security across all parts of the country, while urging the citizenry to support the ongoing fight against insurgency, saying “When you see something, say something. Don’t sit on the fence; avail security agencies with information on suspicious movements”.
