The Bauchi Women Coalition has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting women’s political participation, declaring its support for the emergence of a qualified woman as the Deputy Governorship candidate in Bauchi State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued to journalists in Bauchi and signed by the Coalition’s director of media and communication, Hajiya Hajara Musa, the group said women’s inclusion in leadership strengthens governance, promotes social development, and ensures that the interests of women, children, youths, and other vulnerable groups are adequately represented in government.
The coalition stated that, in line with this commitment, it supports the gubernatorial aspiration of Senator Shehu Buba and urged political stakeholders to consider selecting a competent and experienced woman as his running mate.
According to the statement, such a decision would demonstrate the principles of inclusion, equity, and good governance while leveraging the wealth of experience, competence, and leadership capacity of women in Bauchi State.
The Coalition further reiterated its commitment to peaceful democratic engagement and pledged to continue advocating for increased participation of women in decision-making at all levels of governance.
