Former Real Madrid midfielder, Toni Kroos has suggested why his old club defeated Barcelona 2-1 in the LaLiga El Clásico over the weekend.
Two goals from Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham ensured Real Madrid defeated Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Kroos believes the Los Blancos defeated the Blaugrana because Xabi Alonso’s men approached the match with great intelligence.
According to the German, Real Madrid also took advantage of Barcelona’s tactics.
Speaking on his Einfach mal Luppen podcast, Kroos said (via Madrid Xtra):
“El Clásico? I’m very happy that Real Madrid won.
“A well-deserved victory. They took advantage of Barcelona’s play. The score could have been higher at halftime. Real Madrid approached this match with great intelligence.”
Real Madrid’s next match is against Valencia in the LaLiga on Saturday
