In a proactive effort to enhance the safety and security of lives and properties on campus, the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) Zoo Park, in collaboration with Stamp Multiventure, has organised a Fire Safety Workshop for its staff on August 14, 2024.

Welcoming participants to the Workshop, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Prof. Kola Adebayo, expressed the University’s commitment to fire safety, citing FUNAAB’s remote location from the nearest fire station in Abeokuta town.

He stated that the University, under the leadership of Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, values the safety of its staff, hence, he highlighted the recent purchase of a fire truck and the need for staff training.

The Resource Persons, Dr. Adeniran Adeleye, Chief Executive Officer of Stamp Multiventure, and Omooba Abiola Ogundeko, Chief Executive Officer of First Heritage Culture and Hospitality Limited, provided valuable insights on workplace safety, emphasising the importance of responsibility, risk assessment, and proper equipment use.

As a support to the Zoo Park, Omooba Ogundeko donated branded raincoats and umbrellas, while Dr. Adeleye donated two fire extinguishers, ten reflective safety jackets, and twenty washable and reusable nose masks.

Expressing gratitude to the donors, who are proud alumni of FUNAAB, the Director, FUNAAB Zoo Park, Prof. Sammy Sam-Wobo, stressed the vital importance of safety in all Zoo Park operations.

He noted that the generous contributions would enhance the Park’s ability to maintain a secure environment for staff members, visitors and wildlife.

Other notable attendees included the Dean, College of Physical Sciences (COLPHYS) and Chairman of the Committee of Deans and Directors (CODAD), Prof. Taofeek Akinwale; Assistant Chief Environmental Officer, Mr. Peter Bolarinwa; and others who gave their Goodwill Messages and expressed appreciation to the Management and the Director of the Zoo Park for organising the Workshop.

The Workshop underscored the University’s proactive approach to safety and its commitment to protecting lives and properties on campus.
