Protesters on Saturday returned to the streets of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, for the one million-man march.
The development is in defiance of the police which have beefed up security in the FCT with a massive deployment of its operatives in the nation’s capital.
The Abuja protest, which had earlier been stopped following security agencies’ raids on residences and the arrest of organisers, has now fully resumed.
The hunger protests, which began on August 1, is ending today with a one million-man march across the country.
On Friday, the police in the FCT made heavy deployment of its operatives, resulting in heavy presence of security operatives around the Central Business District areas.
Similarly, at Eagles Square, there has been a noticeable increase in the number of security agents deployed at the facility, a departure from the situation in the past three days when there was a lull in the protests.
The protesters, who began their demonstration as early as 7am on Saturday, chanted various slogans such as “End hunger” and “Reverse fuel subsidy removal,” among others.
