Police in Ogun State have discovered an unidentified lifeless body of a member of the Aiye confraternity, popularly called ‘Mosquito’, along Ijagun Road, Ijebu-Ode.
Mosquito’s hand was severed by the rival cult group before they absconded with it.
The victims corpse was discovered following the information received by the police over a cult clash in the area for supremacy battle.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, confirmed this to newsmen in a statement on Monday in Abeokuta, the state capital.
Odutola said upon the information, the DPO of Ijebu-Ode Division with his men, swung into action and on arriving at the scene, a body of an unidentified middle-aged man was discovered with machete wounds and gun short injuries.
She added that the victim’s left hand was severed, removed and taken away by his killers
The Police PRO noted that one of the members of the Aiye cult group identified the body as that of ‘Mosquito’ before his corpse was evacuated.
She said six expended cartridges were recovered at the scene.
Odutola said that the corpse had been evacuated and transferred to Ijebu Ode State Hospital, where he was pronounced dead and placed in the morgue.
She hinted that the command had launched manhunt for the culprits to arrest the fleeing suspects and to unravel the pattern of cutting off left hand from deceased victims.
