Crescent Varsity tops Lukman Fagbemi National Moot Competition

Students of Bola Ajibola College of Law (BACOLAW), Crescent University, Abeokuta, have emerged as First Runner-Up in a national moot competition tagged ” Lukman Fagbemi National Moot Competition,” an annual law contest which attracts top law faculties across Nigeria.

The team, led by the Law Students’ Association of Nigeria (LAWSAN), Crescent University Chapter’s President, Adeyemi Justus Iyiola delivered a decisive performance in the memorial round, which doubled as the qualifying stage, to distinguish itself as one of the top contenders alongside University of Ilorin, Osun State University, and the University of Benin, thereby securing its place in the semifinals.

The Team Crescent led the way against University of Benin to clinch the semifinal ticket with an impressive 76 points against the opponent’s 60.

The next stage confirmed the team’s advancement to the final round, with Crescent University earning 24 points, surpassing University of Benin’s 22 points.

Crescent University ultimately emerged second overall winner after a heated contest and mock competition with the host Institution, University of Ilorin.

Recall that a student of BACOLAW,Mujeebat Idris, recently won Alao Adavise National Essay Competition on Privacy and Data Protection ahead of a student of University of Ilorin.

The Vice Chancellor,Prof. Ibraheem Gbajabiamila described Crescent University students’ outstanding performance as “a testament to the team’s commitment and dedication which further positions Crescent University BACOLAW as one of the leading law faculties in Nigeria.

The Lukman Fagbemi SAN Moot competition featured a broad lineup of universities from across the country, including federal, state and private universities.

At the closing ceremony, Lukman Fagbemi SAN commended representatives of Crescent University for their exceptional advocacy skills and added a six-figure cash reward to the prize in recognition of their outstanding performance.

The participating students from BACOLAW include Adeyemi Justus, Ogunsiji Victor, Alao Aliyat, Bello Farouk, and Adeshina Omobolaji who are all final year students.

Others are Oyedele Eniola, Fawaz Afolabi, Amira Amusan, Ajao Arafah, Yekini Yusrah, Adekanbi Alim, Khalil Abdulkareem and Saliu Habeeb who were all cheperoned by the Coordinating Lecturer, Odelade Munirah.

This feat reinforces Crescent University’s retentive reputation for excellence in legal education and advocacy.
