An Anglican Cleric, Venerable Hezekiah Adeniyi has expressed deep worry over the rate at which Nigerians are leaving the country as a result of economic challenges.
He emphasised the need to run to Jesus other than ‘japa,’ which has led to brain drain in the country.
Adeniyi stated this in his sermon to mark the 116th Founder’s Day anniversary of Abeokuta Grammar School at the St Peter’s Cathedral Church, Ake, Abeokuta,
He said the theme: “Brain Drain and its impact on society,” was a timely issue that needed urgent attention to prevent the country from losing more brilliant minds.
The cleric said, “Things are hard in the country as a result of haughty economic policies by the government which has led to the rise in cost of goods. This is the reason why people are leaving the country in droves.
The cleric who took his text from Proverb 22: 29 said there is no doubt that people are truly labouring and heavy laden “but help is on the way.”
The Bishop of the Diocese, Rt. Rev Emmanuel Adekunle, during the thanksgiving service, appreciated the President General of AGSOBA, Chief Sunday Oduntan for his yearly support on behalf of AGSOBA to the church and for sustaining the yearly thanksgiving service.
He prayed for more relationship between the church and the school as they partner to fight brain drain in the society.
