Agbere Football Club on Thursday at Sagbama center on Matchday two, in Sagbama Local Government Area defeated EBEDEBIRI football club during the Nigeria’s biggest grassroots football spectacle, the Bayelsa Governor’s Football Tournament with a four nil.
The victory takes Agbere FC’s goal tally to 15 in two matches keep their aspirations of winning the trophy slive. Johnny Ebiakpo put the Agbere side ahead on 63 minutes after a goalless first half, Godfrey Annu doubled the lead on 69 minutes with a beautiful finish from close range.
Agbere FC intensified the pressure on Ebedebiri FC as Iworiso Doubiyo added the third on 75 minutes, before. Godfrey Annu’s brace just before the final whistle made it four to complete Ebedebiri FC’s demolition and elimination from the tournament.
At the Ebedebiri centre, Angalabiri pipped Young Warriors by a lone goal, while Mountain of the Lord’s Deliverance Ministry, MLDM FC walloped Indomitable FC by three goals to one to secure a place in the next round of Prosperity Cup 2025.
At the Two Brass Centre, Igoni FC ended Water Strikers’ one hundred percent record in the tournament with a slim one goal victory.
Playing at Ogobiri Centre in Sagbama LGA, Akeddei FC beat Barca FC of Eriama 4-3 on penalties after a one all deadlock in regulation time. Bright Ebidimie put Akeddei FC in front on 11 minutes but Barca FC levelled up on 78 minutes from Perediemo Ebike.
Earlier on Wednesday at the Sabagreia centre in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area, Sampou FC defeated King Warriors of Igbedi 5-4 on penalties after a one all draw in normal time.
Playing at the same venue, Odi United had earlier ousted Sabagreia FC 5-4 on penalties having shared the spoils in regulation time.
Action switches to Ogbia and Southern Ijaw Local Government Areas this weekend, where Hummel Stars FC of Otuokpoti will battle Hope Alive FC of Otuoke on Friday at the Otuasega Centre by 3.00pm.
Dianamite FC will confront Bomoibe United on Saturday at the Eniwari centre by 2.00pm while former champions Krusaders FC will slug it out with Samba Boys FC by 3.00pm at the Ekeremor Town Centre also on Saturday.
