Police were called to the London stadium following an incident that occurred in the early hours of Monday morning, with the man pronounced dead at the scene, the Championship club said in a statement on Tuesday evening.

“The death remains under investigation,” Charlton said.

Charlton expressed its condolences to the deceased man’s family, friends and loved ones.

The club also thanked its staff for their response to the incident.

“Charlton Athletic would also like to thank its staff for the professionalism they have shown while dealing with a particularly difficult and distressing situation,” the statement said.
