Veteran Nollywood Jide Kosoko has appealed to fans, colleagues, and well-wishers to continue praying for ailing actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, explaining why the family cannot move him to alternative facilities despite hundreds of offers for spiritual and medical assistance.
Kosoko, in a statement shared via his Instagram page on Wednesday, expressed deep gratitude on behalf of Ogogo’s family and colleagues for the overwhelming support.
But he emphasised that Ogogo’s current medical condition makes it impossible to relocate him from the hospital where he is undergoing care.
Kosoko said, “We have received offers from more than 300, and even over 500 people, each sincerely believing that they have something that could help him.
“The challenge is simply: Where do we take him to? And how do we move him from the hospital while he is receiving care?”
Concerning those who offered traditional, spiritual, or specialised treatments, the veteran actor urged them not to feel offended or disappointed by the family’s inability to bring Ogogo to them.
He said, “Please, do not feel offended or disappointed if we are unable to bring Ogogo to you for spiritual assistance or treatment. It is extremely difficult to move him from the hospital to different locations at this stage of his treatment, especially considering the large number of people who have offered to help.
“Please understand that our inability to bring him to anyone does not mean that we do not appreciate you, nor does it mean that we doubt your intentions or your desire to help.
“On the contrary, we are deeply touched by the overwhelming love and concern that people across the world have shown towards him.
“Therefore, we encourage you to continue doing whatever you can from your respective locations and comfort zones. Keep praying. Keep supporting us. Keep believing with us.”
Kosoko’s statement follows public anxiety over the health of the veteran actor after his daughters, Shakira and Haleemah Hassan, posted an emotional video online disclosing that their father was battling stage-four cancer.
The alarm they raised regarding the challenges of securing adequate specialised care prompted an outpouring of support across the film industry and social media platforms, with Nollywood stars like Femi Adebayo and Toyin Abraham actively mobilising support.
A medical doctor has also noted that stage-four cancer care centres heavily on palliative management to relieve pain and maintain quality of life, warning well-wishers against recommending unverified herbal concoctions that could worsen his medical state.
Kosoko’s update reaffirms that Ogogo remains under direct hospital care while urging the public to channel their support through prayer.
