Erling Haaland scored the only goal of the match that lifted Manchester City to a 1-0 win over Burnley in the EPL on Wednesday night.
The Norway international striker’s goal was enough to seal all three points that saw Manchester City return to the top of the EPL table for the first time since August.
After defeating Arsenal over the weekend to reclaim the advantage in this season’s title race, the Cityzens knew only a win would move them to the top of the table, and they had their striker’s 24th goal of the season to thank for achieving the team’s aim.
Haaland collected Jeremy Doku’s through ball and produced a dinked finish for the winning goal on five minutes, and the team survived a nervy finish to leave Turf Moor stadium unscathed, sealing their 12th consecutive win over Burnley.
Man City are on an 11-match unbeaten streak, and are top of the league with 70 points after 33 matches, same as Arsenal, but with a higher number of goals scored so far than the Gunners.
Burnley however return to the English Championship after just one season in the EPL, their ninth match without a win sealed their fate.
Scott Parker’s side are the second team to lose their EPL status at the end of the season alongside Wolverhampton Wanderers, and a third club will join the duo on or before the end of the season.
