…as pro-Wike lawmakers issues Gov seven-day ultimatum to resubmit 2024 budget
Factional Rivers State House of Assembly, led by Martin Amaewhule, on Monday, issued Governor Siminalayi Fubara a seven-day ultimatum to resubmit the state’s 2024 budget.
The pro-Wike Assembly issued the order during its first session after several months’ holidays.
However, a parallel session is being held by same day by the House faction led by Victor Oko-Jumbo.
Earlier, Fubara had presented the budget to the other House loyal to him, with his current Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, presiding as Speaker.
Ehie and the pro-Fubara lawmakers passed the budget estimates, which the Fubara then signed into law.
The Governor had then stated that the budget aimed to promote economic development, inclusive growth, and address socio-economic inequality in the state.
