All is now set for the National Assembly Primary Elections of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State to select candidates for both House of Representatives and Senate in various Wards across the state.

Addressing press conference on Saturday 16th, May 2026 at Golden Tulip in Yenagoa, the chairman of the electoral panel for national and state assemblies of the All Progressives Congress in bayelsa state, Chief Solomon Ogba in company of other committee members said, the briefing is to signal the process of the election for candidates for House of Representatives and Senate for bayelsa APC.
According to Chief Ogba, ” am happy that all relevant authorities associated with the conduct of the excercise are all ready. The committee has distributed Non-Sensitive materials to all the polling areas in the state”.
Speaking further said, the All Progressives Congress of Bayelsa state has decided to rely on section 84 sub- section 2 of the 2026 electoral acts which is direct primaries for the excercise.
” We have painstakingly selected people that will conduct the election in all the wards and federal constituencies for this excercise. They are people of proven integrity and we believe they are going to discharge this responsibility fairly. We also intend to conduct this excercise very fairly, transparently. And we call on all of us to help us achieve this. Everybody will be given the opportunity to excercise his or her right”.
He commended the government, party members and the people of Bayelsa state for the peaceful disposition towards the excercise.
Answering questions from journalists, Chief Ogba declined on the number of aspirants going for the excercise, but said majority of them were cleared to participate in the election.
In his earlier welcome address, the state chairman of All Progressives Congress in bayelsa state, Hon. Warmam Ogoriba said, INEC, security agencies and all relevant authorities were already on ground for the excercise.
He said members of the committee were sent to Bayelsa to conduct the national and state assembly elections.
It will be recalled that 72 aspirants were cleared by the screening committee to participate in the Bayelsa APC state assembly.
