What initially appeared to be an unlikely political development is now becoming a serious concern for other contenders, as Samuel Oluwafemi Abiodun Oni, an engineer and candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ogun State, intensifies his campaign for the Ogun Central Senatorial District.

When reports first emerged that the well-known engineer would contest the Ogun Central senatorial seat on the platform of the ADC, many people dismissed the possibility and regarded it almost as a joke.

Therefore, as Abiodun Oni’s political profile continues to grow and his campaign gains momentum across the district, the situation is increasingly being taken seriously by his political opponents.

Previously, much of the attention ahead of the election was focused on the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

However, the ADC is now attracting significant attention, particularly within Ogun Central.

One of the factors responsible for this growing attention is the seriousness with which Abiodun Oni is approaching the contest.

He has consistently expressed confidence in his ability to emerge victorious at the polls.

His confidence appears to be driven by his determination and conviction to succeed.

At present, his major focus is reportedly on how to secure victory in the senatorial election.

Abiodun Oni is also not a political newcomer.

The candidate, who hails from Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, is regarded as someone with considerable experience in public affairs and leadership.

His supporters also point to his reputation and professional record, arguing that there are no major controversies surrounding his public activities.

Those who have worked closely with him describe him as a man whose presence and contribution have positively influenced those around him.

According to people familiar with his political journey, many of those who have worked with him in the past are now supporting his political aspiration and are prepared to follow him into the contest.

Abiodun Oni has also maintained that his decision to enter politics was not sudden or accidental.

He has said that the desire to serve the people has been in his heart for a long time and that he believes he has been divinely directed to offer himself for public service.

His supporters are therefore said to be mobilising across Abeokuta South, Abeokuta North, Obafemi Owode, Odeda, Ewekoro and Ifo Local Government Areas, which collectively make up the Ogun Central Senatorial District.

With the growing visibility of his campaign and the support reportedly building around him, Abiodun Oni’s candidacy is beginning to attract serious attention and, according to political observers, has created a new dimension to the race for the Ogun Central Senatorial seat.
