U.S Command for Africa has confirmed that it has deployed a small team of troops in Nigeria.
This officially confirms the presence of American forces in Nigeria, since the Christmas Day airstrikes on the instruction of President Donald Trump.
Trump also warned there could be more military action in future.
There were also reports that the U.S. had been conducting surveillance flights over the country.
The head of the U.S. military’s Africa Command, AFRICOM, General Dagvin R.M. Anderson, told reporters that they dispatched the team following an agreement between the two countries.
“That has led to increased collaboration between our nations to include a small US team that brings some unique capabilities from the United States,” Anderson said.
But he declined further information about the mission.
