The two-year delay in the induction of Nursing graduates of the Ambrose Alli University, AAU, Ekpoma, by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, has been resolved through the concerted efforts of the Governor Monday Okpebholo-led administration.

Disclosing this in a statement, the Commissioner for Education, Dr Paddy Iyamu, noted that 810 nursing graduates of the university would now be inducted by the council on March 20, this year.

“The Edo State Government has finally resolved the two-year delay of the induction of 810 nursing graduates of Ambrose Ali University, (AAU), Ekpoma into the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, with the induction ceremony now scheduled to take place on the 20th of March, 2025.

“The resolution of the issue was reached after a series of engagements between the State Government, represented by the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Paddy Iyamu, Ambrose Ali University, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olowo and the leadership of the NMCN, led by Registrar, Dr. Ndaji Alhassan.

“The upcoming induction will equip these nurses to serve their communities and contribute to the improvement of healthcare services. Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration is dedicated to bringing positive change in line with his vision for the people of Edo State,” he said.

Dr. Iyamu expressed gratitude to the council for their cooperation and assured them of the commitment of Governor Okpebholo to the welfare and future of Edo students.

He emphasized the important role that nurses play in society and the need to induct these graduates in a timely manner so they could begin their career journey as well.

Dr. Alhassan, the Registrar of the NMCN, commended the State Government for their dedication to the education sector and pledged the council’s support for both the state and the nursing profession.
