The traditional ruler of Itori kingdom located in Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State, Oba Fatai Akamo has offered scholarship to 21 indigent students of DS Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, Itori.

The gesture was part of the activities marking the monarch’s 21st coronation anniversary held at the polytechnic campus, where a football competition was also held, as well as essay competition to add glamour to the ceremony.

The royal father at the well-attended ceremony, in the same vein, donated the sum of N500,000 to the school management to support the running cost of the institution, and equally promised to be available whenever he’s needed for additional support.

Akamo attributed his success on the throne since ascension to God and all his subjects, adding that he would not stop adding value to developmental growth of the town

The traditional ruler who was royally welcomed by the management and students of the polytechnic, was described as a symbol of positive development within the community and environs.

The football encounter was between Oba Akamo’s soccer team and Olori Barakat Akamo soccer squad, which ended in favour of the monarch’s team, following a penalty shoot out 3-2, while the winning team went home with N50,000 cash.

The Dean of Student Affairs of the Polytechnic, O.A Odusanya, in his remarks pointed out that the reign of the traditional has been a blessing for the institution and the entire Itori community, describing him as a beacon of peace and progress.

Odusanya in the same vein, acknowledged leadership quality of the Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr Goke Rauf, emphasising that since he took over the leadership, the institution has continued to transform to better status.

The Rector in his own remarks expressed appreciation to the royal father, adding that he has continued to make the institution and the community proud, and prayed for him to continue to excel in the task of ruling the community.

Rauf, however, tasked other individuals and stakeholders to emulate the gestures of the monarch in the area of supporting education and the polytechnic in particular.

He seized the opportunity of the occasion to thank Governor Dapo Abiodun for his supportive roles towards the upliftment of the polytechnic to global recognition, as the students now embraced decency in character.

Meanwhile, the traditional ruler, as part of activities for his coronation anniversary, had earlier visited the Stella Obasanjo Children’s Home, State Hospital Sokenu, Correctional Centre and Sacred Heart Hospital, Abeokuta, where he donated food items and cash to address their needs.
