… says ‘I took decision after Wike’s intervention’

Peoples Democratic Party candidate for the Abuja Municipal Area Council, Zadna Dantani, on Thursday, announced that he has stepped down in favour of the All Progressives Congress candidate, Christopher Zakka Maikalangu.
This is coming less than 24 hours after the PDP chairmanship candidate for Bwari Area Council, Julius Adamu, stepped down for the APC candidate, Joshua Ishaku Musa, the PDP candidate for the AMAC
Dantani attributed his decision to the intervention of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and confirmed that he has submitted a formal letter of withdrawal to the Independent National Electoral Commission.
While speaking on his withdrawal, Dantani said, “My name is Hon. Zadna Dantani, the chairmanship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Abuja Municipal Area Council for Saturday’s elections. I want to sincerely appreciate everyone who supported us. We are taking this step not out of personal interest, but for the greater good.
“I have agreed to this based on the intervention of the Honourable Minister of FCT, Barrister Nyesom Wike, who is our leader. He has reminded us that this is a ‘brotherhood election.’ I am also doing this in support of the good works of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
The PDP candidate noted that after wide consultations, he decided to withdraw from the race against Maikalangu in order to foster unity.
“I have submitted a letter of withdrawal to INEC today. I therefore call on all my supporters across the 12 wards in AMAC to come out en masse to support Hon. Christopher Maikalangu, the candidate of the APC,” he added.
