Former Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ebonyi State, Ogbuefi Ifeuwabundidi, has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress declaring his readiness to mobilise massive support for Governor Francis Nwifuru’s re-election in 2027.

Ifeuwabundidi announced his defection on Friday at Enyibuchiri, Abaomege community in Onicha Local Government Area of the state, where he was formally received into the APC.
The APC State Chairman, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, who was represented by the South Zonal Chairman, Dr. Ernest Nwaze, alongside members of the State Working Committee from Ebonyi South, welcomed the new entrant and urged him to demonstrate loyalty to the party’s leadership at all levels.
The party leadership described Ifeuwabundidi as a well-known and hardworking political leader in the state, congratulated him on his decision and presented him with the APC broom as a symbol of his membership. The party also reaffirmed its readiness to welcome more members to consolidate the achievements of Governor Nwifuru and President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking after his declaration, Ifeuwabundidi described Governor Nwifuru as a transformational leader whose administration had recorded remarkable achievements in education, overseas scholarships, healthcare, infrastructure, pension and gratuity payments, as well as the welfare of civil servants.
He said the governor’s People’s Charter of Needs policy had positively impacted the state, adding that Nwifuru deserved commendation for restoring peace to previously troubled communities, particularly Abaomege and Ishinkwo, whose communal conflict, according to him, dated back to 1912.
Declaring that he was returning to his political home, Ifeuwabundidi recalled his contributions to the formation of the APC ward executive in the past and pledged to work harmoniously with the party leadership under Governor Nwifuru. He also appreciated Emegha and other party stakeholders for the warm reception and guidance.
The former PDP secretary further disclosed that he had commenced massive mobilisation across the state to secure an overwhelming victory for Nwifuru and other APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
As the Vision Bearer and State Coordinator of Polling Unit Mobilisation for the governor Ifeuwabundidi announced that the organisation had inaugurated its executives at the state and three senatorial zonal levels, as well as in the 13 local government areas, while ward inaugurations had commenced with a flag-off in Abaomege community.
He added that PUM was preparing to establish 21-member executive structures across the 171 wards and 2,947 polling units in Ebonyi State within a fortnight, expressing confidence that the grassroots mobilisation would deliver a landslide victory for Governor Nwifuru and other APC candidates in 2027.
