• As Konga boss Ekeh, Akintayo, others receive awards
Foremost international group, the EuroKnowledge, has conferred an international recognition award on President Bola Tinubu at the prestigious House of Lords, Palace of Westminster, London.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mr Mohammed Idris, who was physically present at the epoch making event in London on Saturday, received the award on behalf of President Tinubu.
In a statement made available to journalists on Monday by the EuroKnowledge’s Vice President, Kate Sovdagari, the organisers further disclosed that the award of “Distinguished EuroKnowledge Leadership Award” was conferred on President Tinubu during the EuroKnowledge Leadership Forum and Award Reception in London.
Idris, who received the international award on behalf of the President, said the award is in recognition of Tinubu’s transformational leadership, bold reforms, and commitment to repositioning Nigeria as a global investment destination, reinforcing Nigeria’s international standing and the pride of its citizens.
He said, “ President Tinubu’s vision of building a $1trillion economy is on course. He is committed in bridging the infrastructure gap, promoting food security, improving the living conditions of the masses and bequeathing a prosperous nation to future generations.
“Today, Nigeria is a vast construction site, with over N2.5trillion worth of road infrastructure projects approved this year alone, the highest ever in Nigeria’s history.
“The government is linking cities through signature projects, such as the Lagos-Calabar and Badagry to Sokoto superhighways, and in all parts of the country.”
The EuroKnowledge also honoured a billionaire businessman and owner of one of Nigeria’s leading betting companies, Premier Lotto Limited, Chief Kessington Adebutu, with an award titled, “Distinguished EuroKnowledge Lifetime Achievement Award in Business and Philanthropy.”
The EuroKnowledge award on Adebutu was received on his behalf by the National Programme Manager, Renewed Hope National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme, Princess Aderemi Adebowale, who told the distinguished guests that the business mogul was excited about the award.
Adebowale said, “ Chief Adebutu would have loved to be here but because of his 90th birthday celebration in Nigeria. He had asked me to come to London and receive the award on his behalf.
“I can say with high sense of responsibility that Chief Adebutu is a big philanthropist with a difference. He has touched many lives irrespective of religious or political affiliations.
This international award will definitely motivate him to do more on his philanthropic gesture. He is a rare gift to Nigeria and mankind”.
The statement added that the CEO of Konga, Prince Nnamdi Ekeh, was also conferred with “EuroKnowledge Award for Emerging Leadership Digital Transformation” and “Forbes Best of Africa E-Commerce Leadership Award” at the event while the MD/CEO of GText Global Properties, Dr Stephen Akintayo, received the EuroKnowledge Award.
In her goodwill message at the event, the Chairperson of the Foreign Investment Network (FIN) and Co-Convener of the EuroKnowledge, Mrs Olayinka Fayomi, commended President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for restoring investor confidence, fostering transparency, and driving forward-thinking reforms across critical sectors of the economy.
The statement further disclosed that former UK Cabinet member and Parliamentary Member of the House of Lords, Baroness Sandip Verma was conferred with “Award for Philanthropic Leadership & Community Advancement” while a former professional footballer with Manchester United, Everton, Tottenham Hotspur and French national team, Louis Saha, received the “Euroknowledge Award for Sporting Excellence & Youth Empowerment through Sport”.
Also at the event, the Mukal Madhav Foundation, founded by Ritu Hinduja Chabria was honoured with the “Award for Excellence in Humanitarian Service & Social Development” while the foremost AI thought leader in Europe, Dalith Steiger of Swiss-cognitive received the “Excellence in Humanitarian Service & Social Development Award”.
Other distinguished Nigerians at the event included the First Lady of Kwara State, Amb. Prof. Mrs Olufolake Abdulrazaq, the Director-General/CEO of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, Dr Mustapha Abdullahi; the Director-General of NAFDAC, Prof Mojisola Adeyeye; Managing Director/CEO of the Bank of Industry (BoI), Dr Olasupo Olusi; Edo State Commissioner for Education, Dr Paddy Iyamu; and the National Coordinator, National Social Safety Nets Coordinating Office, Dr Funmi Olotu among others.
