National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, David Mark, has held a crucial meeting with representatives of the party’s former Federal lawmakers following a wave of defections in the National Assembly.
Recall that on Tuesday, 17 members of the House of Representatives left the ADC and joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress. Their defection letters were read during plenary by Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu.
The lawmakers came from different constituencies across the country, including Kano, Anambra, Lagos, Edo and Rivers States.
Another lawmaker, Leke Abejide from Kogi, also left the ADC but moved to the All Progressives Congress.
Many of the lawmakers said they left due to leadership problems and legal disputes within the party.
In a post on X, Mark’s technical adviser on strategic communication, Kola Ologbondiyan, confirmed the meeting in Abuja.
“The representatives of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) former Federal Lawmakers in a crucial meeting with the party’s National Chairman, Senator David Mark, at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, Wednesday,” he wrote.
Ologbondiyan, however, did not provide details of what was discussed at the meeting.
Also, ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, has yet to issue any official statement.
