Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, on Friday, advised President Bola Tinubu to urgently declare a state of emergency on the security situation in Nigeria.
Atiku said this in a statement posted on his Facebook page on Friday in reaction to the abduction of students in Niger State.
Earlier on Friday, terrorists invaded St. Mary Secondary School, Papiri, in Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State, and abducted over 50 students and staff.
Atiku in his reaction, wondered why the Tinubu-led Federal Government has yet to take a decisive action on the deteriorating security situation in the country.
The 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party said the latest attack was heartbreaking.
Atiku wrote, “Not again. This is truly heartbreaking. How many more lives must be shattered before decisive action is taken?
“It is not too late for the government to finally declare a state of emergency in insecurity and confront this menace with the urgency it deserves.”
