Crescent University i Abeokuta, has immortalized Oba Olufemi Adewunmi Ogunleye, the late Towulade of Akinwale, Owu kingdom with a Posthumous Award for promoting traditional heritage and professional excellence.
The award was presented to his son, Mr Dele Ogunleye by the Proprietor and Chairman, Board of Trustees, Prince Mahruf Adesegun Ajibola SAN, in company with the Vice Chancellor,Prof. Ibraheem Gbajabiamila.
The late monarch, a veteran journalist and Public Relations guru was honoured alongside two other awardees, Chief Kolawole Akintoye and Mr Adesegun Akinlotan Emmanuel during the 2025 Bola Ajibola Community Services Awards , marking the 19th Founder’s Day of the university held on Saturday.
Oba Ogunleye after a rewarding journalism and PR practice enrolled into Crescent University and got his first degree in Law and later proceeded to Babcock University Ilishan-Remo where he bagged Master’s Degree in Law and returned to the same institution for his PhD and defended his Doctoral Thesis.
The monarch was still eyeing a return to Crescent University for Master’s of Science Degree in Mass Communication before death prevented him from actualizing the academic ambition.
Proprietor and Chairman, Board of Trustees of Crescent University, Prince Muhammed Ma’ruf Adesegun Ajibola (SAN) presented the award to his son, Prince Olumide in appreciation of the monarch’s commitment to promotion of traditional heritage and professional excellence in journalism and PR practice in Nigeria.
Similarly Chief Akintoye, the Odofin of Egbaland, another awardee was conferred with Bola Ajibola Community Services Meritorious Award for promoting charity and humanitarian services both in the United Kingdom and Nigeria.
Another awardee of meritorious Bola Ajibola Community Services Award, Mr Adesegun Akinlotan Emmanuel is a holder of a Diploma in Film Performance and Communication Studies from Crescent University and winner of several awards in the movie industry.
He is currently supporting fund raising for a charity organization who is caring out a research on cure for Prostate Cancer in men.
In separate speeches, the Chairman of Board of Trustees, Prince Ma’ruf Ajibola and Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibraheem Gbajabiamila acknowledged the vision of the late founder who committed all his wealth to the actualization of establishment of Crescent University 20 years ago to contribute to human capacity development in Nigeria.
