National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, has suspended the nationwide strike embarked upon since July 29, 2025.
Minister of Health, Ali Pate, announced this to newsmen after a closed-door meeting on Friday.
Pate said the decision followed agreements reached with the leadership of NANNM.
But the leaders of the union declined to speak on the matter after the closed-door meeting on Friday afternoon.
Recall that the nurses embarked on the industrial action following what the union described as the government’s failure to respond meaningfully to its 15-day ultimatum issued on July 14, 2025.
The warning strike involving nurses in public health institutions across the country was scheduled to continue till August 5, 2025.
