Umar Faruk, Gusau
Unity and Reconciliation Forum of the Zamfara State All Progressives Congress has condemned in strong terms the video of a notorious bandit, Bello Turji, in which he attempted to link the Minister of State for Defence, Matawalle with banditry in the state.
The APC Forum described it as a handiwork of opposition.
Chairman of the Forum, Alhaji Mande Umar while speaking with newsmen in Gusau, said the claims of the bandit kingpin was mischievous and false accusations.
Umar described the circulating video clip as just aimed at tarnishing the good reputation and image of the former Zamfara State governor, Bello Matawalle.
According to him, the administration of Matawalle, as governor, demonstrated commitment in the protection of lives and property of the people of the state through introduction of different measures against bandits.
“During the tenure of Bello Matawalle, residents witnessed remarkable reduction of banditry in the state unlike what is happening now when and then people are being killed day and night “, he added.
The APC forum warned political enemies to stop this unnecessary accusations which is capable of causing tension and choas in the state.
He said the issue of banditry shouldn’t be attributed to one person as the issue started about a decade before the coming of Matawalle’s Administration in 2019.
