From Seyi Tayese, Yenagoa

The Management Board of Bayelsa United Football Club has congratulated the MD/CEO, Emmanuel Emiefinim, the management and staff of Premium Trust Bank following the successful inauguration of the bank’s new branch on the Yenagoa-Mbiama Road, Edepie, Yenagoa the state capital.

The official tape-cutting ceremony was performed by Bayelsa State Governor Senator Douye Diri on Monday, August 31st, 2026, with dignitaries, customers and members of the Prosperity Cup family in attendance.

In a statement issued shortly after the event, the Chairman of the Board, Dr. Peter Singabele, said the opening of the new branch is a clear demonstration of Premium Trust Bank’s confidence in Bayelsa’s economy and its commitment to expanding access to financial services in the state.

He described Premium Trust Bank as a valued partner of the Bayelsa Governor’s Football Tournament, noting that the bank’s presence on and off the pitch has contributed to the growth of the Prosperity Cup brand, and to football and sports generally in the state.

Dr. Singabele also recalled the bank’s donation of a brand new coaster bus to Bayelsa Queens Football Club, which he said has remained a big boost to the morale of the team and improved the performance index of the elite female soccer outfit.

“Your commitment to growth and service in Bayelsa State is commendable, and we are proud to have you as part of the Prosperity Cup family,” the statement read. “This expansion will bring banking closer to our players, supporters, vendors and communities along the Mbiama-Yenagoa corridor.”

The Bayelsa United Football Club Chairman noted that stronger private sector participation is vital to sustaining sports development, youth empowerment and local businesses that thrive around football activities in Bayelsa.

The new Edepie branch is expected to serve residents, traders and football stakeholders with improved access to banking products and services.

Dr. Peter Singabele further remarked: “Today we celebrate a partner that believes in Bayelsa. Premium Trust Bank’s decision to open this new branch shows faith in our people. More branches means more prosperity for Bayelsa.”

The Board prayed for continued success for Premium Trust Bank and reaffirmed Bayelsa United’s readiness to deepen collaboration with the bank in all its future activities, including the Prosperity Cup and other community initiatives across Bayelsa State and beyond.
