A Special Assistant to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State, Hon. David Ajobiewe, has informed that the third edition of his free medical programme slated for September 21, this year, is an attempt to complement the laudable achievements of his principal in the health sector.

Ajobiewe, in a statement issued by his media aide, Mr. Damilola Ajakaiye, in Oka-Akoko, the Akoko Southwest Local Government headquarters on Sunday, said Aiyedatiwa recently awed the masses with his newly launched health enhancement scheme, and had as such, set the template for other well-to-do people in the state to use.

He said the third edition of his free medical programme slated to hold at Oka-Akoko Town Hall and code-named ‘Aiyedatiwa Free Medical Outreach’, was also designed to cover the medical bills of all patients referred to Iwaro General Hospital in the area, within the period.

Ajobiewe, who is the Akoko Southwest Director for Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot Soldiers Independent Council (LACO-FSIC), said the exercise would cover free medical laboratory tests, distribution of drugs, consultations and treatments, and health education talks.

“This year’s outreach is dedicated to Governor Aiyedatiwa, in recognition of his numerous achievements in empowerment, job creation, and impactful projects across the state.

“The outreach aims to extend healthcare to the underprivileged, many of whom face financial barriers in accessing medical services,” he stressed.

He added that he was full of joy, giving back to the community, as health is a top priority for sustainable development.

Acknowledging the financial challenges faced by many residents in accessing healthcare, the governor’s aide emphasised that his latest initiative came in handy.

“Health is wealth, and some of our people in this local government cannot afford hospital visits for diagnosis and treatment.

“This outreach will help reduce sudden deaths in our society by offering free medical services to those in need.

“In cases where certain illnesses cannot be fully addressed during the outreach, patients will be referred to Iwaro General Hospital, and I pledge to cover the medical bills,” he assured.

According to him, 10 teams of qualified medical professionals, including doctors and nurses, would provide a wide range of services to participants, during the exercise.

“Looking ahead, the planning committee of the outreach has promised to continue this initiative on an annual basis, providing long-term healthcare support for the people of Akoko Southwest.

“I, therefore, urge residents to continue supporting Governor Aiyedatiwa, appreciating the governor’s leadership and vision toward taking Ondo State to greater heights,” Ajobiewe enthused.
