A former presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, on Wednesday, dismissed the African Democratic Congress as a credible alternative for the 2027 elections, describing its key players as part of the nation’s problems.
Hashim-Olawepo, who spoke on Channels TV’s Politics Today, said apart from a few exceptions, most ADC leaders have been linked to the previous administrations.

He blamed the ADC leaders for insecurity, economic challenges, and the politicisation of religion in Northern Nigeria.
The former presidential aspirant explained that many leaders in the ADC, as well as those in the DPP, were part of past administrations he described as problematic, particularly during the Buhari government.
Olawepo-Hashim said, “Most of the players in the ADC were part of the recent problem. Apart from Peter Obi and Atiku, the ADC elements are all Buhari’s.
“They are part of the problem, the problem of weaponising religion in Northern Nigeria, insecurity, and a bankrupt economy. They were part of the problem.”
He added that seeking alternatives from parties he believes contributed to past governance failures would be counterproductive.
“You cannot go from the frying pan into the fire. So, don’t go from PDP to ADC,” he warned.
