A senior staff of the State House, Mr. Peter Onwubuariri, has passed away in Kano after a protracted illness.
Onwubuariri, who served as Assistant Director, Information and Public Relations at the Presidency, died on Monday at the age of 48.
His wife, Mrs. Catherine Ezinna Onwubuariri, confirmed his death.
The late journalist had been receiving treatment at Kano Cancer Centre for about a month under the state government’s treatment authorization before his demise.
His remains were released on Tuesday from Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) for burial in Owerri, Imo State.
The body was formally handed over to Mr. Oche Echeija Egwa, Deputy Director, Information and Public Relations, on behalf of Presidential Spokesperson, Mr. Bayo Onanuga.
The handover was conducted by Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, spokesperson to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Meanwhile, Governor Yusuf, in a condolence message issued through his spokesperson, described Onwubuariri as “a thoroughbred professional who contributed immensely to presidential reputation management over the years.”
He extended sympathies to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Presidential Media Unit over the loss.
