Segun Ayinde, Abeokuta

Traditionalists in Ogun State, on Tuesday, called on President Bola Tinubu to as a matter of urgency address the problem of hunger and high increase in prices of goods and services to reduce economic hardship occasioned by subsidy removal.

Speaking on behalf of traditionalists in the state, Ojubona Ifakayode Akanbi, from Ijo Orunmila Adulawo, who stated this shortly after praying at Oke Abola Shrine as part of the activities to celebrate the 2024 Isese Day Annual Festival, said it was high time the Tinubu’s administration found solution to persistent inflation in the country.

Akanbi expressed concern that the continual increase in the prices of goods and services have brought untold hardship to many Nigerians, making it difficult for them to eat three square meals and cater for their families.

He insisted that the Federal Government must not turn deaf ears to the yearnings and aspirations of the citizens.

He warned that crime rate would continue to increase in the country if the current Federal administration did not take urgent steps to tackling the problem of inflation, hunger and economic downturn, insisting that all hands must be on deck to put an end to surging prices of goods and services.

Akanbi, however, appreciated the president’s efforts in fighting hunger and inflation in the country, praying that Olodumare and other gods would help him and members of his cabinet to find ways to tackle the hunger and economic hardship bedeviling the nation.

He also thanked the State Governor, Dapo Abiodun and traditional rulers in the state for making August 20, annual Isese Day celebration possible, as he used kola nut and alcoholic drinks to offer prayers to the gods for the betterment of the state.

Akanbi said, “My sincere concern about the country is the price of inflation which has turned most things in the country upside down. We all know the price of inflation over goods in the country has a great impact and we can’t survive without these goods. We want to let you know that it has been causing serious bad side effect than good.”

“The effect of inflation has caused in the nation generally, low purchasing power, scarcity of goods , high interest rate, high price for everything, economic growth slow, anti-inflammatory Mead can caused recession”

“All these have been put together will make crime rate to increase and that can lead to destruction of the nation and the best control measures is well known to you. But please help us make it fast. We know you are trying but please sir help us more in resolving the issue.”

“My appreciation to the Nigeria president His Excellency Bola Hammed Tinubu and the House of Reps for the administration of the country. Also my appreciation to governor of Ogun Straw His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun and his cabinet for the good work going on in the state, we pray your administration grow abundantly”

“I pray we all have a prosperous festive celebration and witness more of it in good health and condition” he added
