The #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria Organising Committee, on Friday, demanded the sacking of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, following the killing of some protesters.
The protesters made this demand during a candlelight symposium held in honour of the victims at the Rights House in Ikeja, Lagos.
The committee, based at the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park in Ojota, Lagos, had declared a three-day mourning for those killed across the country during the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protests.
As of Friday, the hunger strike intended to last for ten days, has entered its ninth day.
Amnesty International has accused security forces of killing no fewer than 21 protesters during a week of demonstrations against hunger.
During the candlelight symposium, a member of the committee and National Spokesperson of the Youth Rights Campaign, Comrade Hassan Taiwo, said it had become imperative that the IGP be relieved of his appointment.
Taiwo claimed that more than 40 people have so far lost their lives nationwide.
“We are demanding the sacking of the Inspector General of Police,” he said.
The CDHR candlelight procession is expected to commence in Alausa immediately after the symposium.
