House of Representatives, on Tuesday, claimed that the female suicide bombers who carried out multiple attacks resulting in the death of scores of people in Borno State on Saturday were imported.
The lawmakers made this allegation in a resolution after considering a motion of urgent national importance by the member representing Gwoza/Chibok/Damboa Federal constituency, Ahmed Usman Jaha.
Jaha, in his condemnation of the attacks, stated that investigations have revealed that the female suicide bombers were “recruited, brainwashed and imported from outside the state” to carry out the suicide act in Gwoza.
The lawmaker added that the bombings indicated the ongoing threat of terrorism in the country.
He also informed the House that more than 180 people were critically injured and currently receiving treatment in various hospitals in the state.
The House then urged security agencies to intensify efforts to prevent a recurrence of such attacks.
Recall that a multiple suicide bomb attacks occurred in Gwoza LGA in Borno, killing over 30 persons and injuring many others.
