Zamfara State Government has expended the sum of N1.5billion on the rehabilitation of hostels at two educational institutions in the state.
The schools are Government Science Secondary School and Zamfara State College of Arts and Science, ZACAS.
Briefing journalists after assessing the completion of the first phase of the contract, Commissioner for Education, Malan Wadatau Madawaki said the contract for the work was as a result of the state’s declaration of the emergency in education by Governor Dauda Lawal.
He expressed satisfaction with the quality job done by the contracting firms in the schools.
Madawaki explained that the present administration of Dauda Lawal has accorded top priority to educational sector through total renovation of structures in the educational institutions across the state farm r better and conducive learning atmosphere.
According to him, under the new arrangements, the state government give special attention to the science, technical and enterpreneouship education.
According to him, plans have reached an advance stage for the establiseny of nine special schools to focus on science, technical and enterpreneouship education.
“In order to develop science, technical and enterpreneouship, nine schools have been earmarked, three in each senatorial district”, he added.
He explained that, entrepreneurship education would be taught at Girls child Schools of Girls Secondary School Moriki, Government Girls College Talata Mafara and Government Girls Unity School Kotorkoshi.
On the issue of manpower, the commissioner said state government would soon start recruitment of 2000 tqualified teachers.
The commotioner urged students of the Zamfara State College of Arts and Science to make best use of the new structures for good performance in their academic pursuit.
