Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has expressed sorrow over the killing of five persons in an explosion along the Gurusu–Gwashi road in Bukkuyum Local Government Area on Wednesday.
Lawal, in a statement posted on his official Facebook page, described the incident as a “senseless loss of innocent lives.”
He said that the explosive device was planted by bandits terrorising the area.
The Governor also commiserated with the family of the Vice Chairman of Bukkuyum Local Government Area, Mu’azu Gwashi, who was killed by his abductors after spending over six months in captivity.
The council vice chairman was kidnapped earlier this year, with his abductors initially demanding a N30 million ransom. They reportedly collected N15 million but still went ahead to kill him.
Governor Lawal prayed for the repose of the souls of all the victims and asked Allah to grant their families the strength to bear the loss.
