The rift between the All Progressives Congress’ governorship candidate, Monday Okpehbolo and a former governor of the state, Adams Oshiomhole seems to be worsening.
A close aide of the candidate revealed that Okpebholo is not happy that Oshiomhole, till date, has failed in his promise to stop Ighodalo from being on the ballot box during the September 21 gubernatorial election in the state.
The source revealed that when news of Ighodalo’s interest in the gubernatorial race was revealed, APC chieftains in the state held several meetings, where it was expressed that the personality and profile of Ighodalo would pose a challenge to any candidate the party could present.
At several of those meetings, Oshiomhole reportedly boasted that he would use his close connections to some very highly placed persons in Abuja, to frustrate Ighodalo.
But Oshiomhole’s efforts have yielded no fruits as Ighodalo continues to wax stronger.
Okpebholo believes Oshiomhole is not happy that he won the APC ticket instead of Dennis Idahosa, who was backed by the former governor, adding that Oshiomhole had refused to put in his best efforts to stop Ighodalo.
The Senator was quoted to have said that Oshiomole who calls him incompetent is himself, also incompetent for failing to deliver on the task to stop Ighodalo.
