Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has declined a request by the African Democratic Congress to visit Nasir El-Rufai in its custody.
ICPC, in a letter dated May 21, 2026, and addressed to the National Secretary of the ADC in Abuja, said the request could not be granted.
The letter stated that El-Rufai is currently standing trial before two courts, the State High Court of Justice in Kaduna and the Federal High Court, both sitting in Kaduna State.
The commission explained that although the defendant is in its custody by order of the courts, the matter is fully before the courts.
ICPC however added that only specific persons have been granted access to him.
“The court has granted access to the defendant to his family, doctors and counsels. These are the only category of persons granted access to see the defendant in the Commission’s custody,” the letter stated.
The anti-graft agency concluded that based on this, the ADC’s application to visit him could not be approved.
