Why I tied my tubes – Nollywood actress, Shaffy Bello

Veteran Nollywood actress, Shaffy Bello has opened up about a major personal decision she made years ago regarding childbirth.

The actress revealed that she underwent a medical procedure to prevent herself from having more children because she did not want a large family.

Bello made the revelation during a conversation about motherhood on her YouTube channel, Shaffy Bello TV, where she reflected on her experiences as a mother and the choices she made concerning family planning.

According to the actress, she decided to tie her fallopian tubes about 26 years ago after concluding that she did not want to have many children.

She explained that although her former husband wanted them to expand their family, she remained firm in her decision to stop having more children.

“My ex-husband had to beg me to have another one. I didn’t want a lot of children. I wanted to stop,” she said.

The thespian further explained that the procedure was performed through her navel, where doctors tied her fallopian tubes, permanently preventing her from becoming pregnant.

Describing the process, Bello said the doctors went through her navel to carry out the operation before tying her tubes, effectively stopping the release of eggs required for pregnancy.

“So they went through my navel, went in there, did what they needed to do, and they tied it up. That was it. They closed my eggs,” she said.

Bello added that she had always been certain about the type of family she wanted and never felt pressured to have more children than she desired.

She joked that if she were to become pregnant again after the procedure, she would consider it a miracle.

“I’ve always said to myself that after tying my tubes, if I get pregnant, I will feel like Mary, it’s a holy child,” Bello said.
