True to its feat as Nigeria’s first health radio station, WASH 94.9FM is intensifying its niche in the health sector through regular collaborations with other organizations for massive outreaches focusing on empowerment and free medical treatment for Lagosians at the grassroots level.

The latest is the three-day free medical and surgical outreach at Badagry where over 500 residents of the area benefitted from a range of medical services including free consultation, screening and treatment for various health conditions.

The collaborative partnership involving WASH FM, Phlox Health WASH Foundation, Medical Women’s Association of Lagos, Baptist health fellowship, Prohealth International and others, spanned three days.

The outreach took place from Thursday August 21 to Saturday August 23, 2025 at various locations of the town including, Badagry Grammar School, Great Physician Hospital, A-Harmony Hospital and Our Lady Catholic Hospital, Ibereko.

In the estimation of the Organizers as articulated by the Chief Executive Officer of WASH FM, Engr. Friday Aizeboje, the outreach programme was a huge success as it attracted more than 500 attendees for the three days.

The medical and surgical team, comprised Medical Doctors and other healthcare professionals, performed minor and major surgical procedures including dental screening, scaling and polishing, eye screening, Breast Lump Excision, cataract extraction and Myomectomy.

Phlox Health WASH Foundation also distributed essential items such as food, clothing and medication to vulnerable members of the community.

The Medical Women’s Association played a crucial role in the success of the event, providing expertise and resources to ensure the smooth execution of the programme.

Of great significance was the fact that WASH 94.9FM provided Outside Broadcast services to disseminate the messages and helped in raising public awareness about the event and importance of health care and wellness in the community.

Proceedings of the 3 days event were aired live on radio via WASH94.9FM.

The success of the outreach programme is a testament of the power of collaboration and community engagement.

Phlox Health WASH Foundation is grateful to the Medical Women’s Association and other organisations for the partnership which recorded huge success.

Engr. Aizeboje said apart from the regular outreaches, the organization would continue to look forward to providing more opportunities for the public to access health care services and information.

“We invite more public spirited organisations, persons and philanthropists to join us to serve more communities”, he added.
