Stuttgart defender Maximilian Mittelstädt has described Victor Osimhen as one of the finest strikers in world football ahead of his side’s UEFA Champions League clash with Galatasaray.

The German left-back acknowledged the threat posed by the Nigerian forward, praising his consistency, attacking quality and impressive performances over the past few seasons.

Osimhen has enjoyed an outstanding start to the current campaign, registering 10 goals in 10 appearances across all competitions. His impressive run also includes a goal against his former club Lille in the Champions League.

Although the Super Eagles striker received treatment during Galatasaray’s most recent Turkish Süper Lig fixture, he is expected to be available for the encounter against Stuttgart.

Speaking during the pre-match press conference, Mittelstädt warned his teammates about Galatasaray’s attacking strength, particularly the danger posed by Osimhen.

“We prepared for Galatasaray. We know that are very good defensively but also have exceptional players in attack, like, Osimhen, who is very dangerous.

“He has shown over the last few years that he is perhaps one of the best strikers in the world. Galatasaray have not only him in attack but have brought in many good players including international stars, and we also have good players in defence.

“We know that it will demand everything from us but I know we will go into the game well prepared,” the Stuttgart defender said.

Osimhen’s growing influence at Galatasaray has also brought him closer to another club milestone. With eight Champions League goals for the Turkish giants, he is approaching Burak Yılmaz’s record of 10 goals as the club’s joint second-highest scorer in the competition.

The Nigerian striker will have another opportunity to strengthen his European scoring record when Galatasaray take on Stuttgart.
