President Donald Trump has fired three senior US officials in 11 months, the latest being the US Attorney General Pam Bondi, whom he replaced with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche.
With the cabinet member’s exit from the Department of Justice, President Trump has now, within 11 months discharged three senior administration officials during his second term.
On March 5, Kristi Noem was removed as the Secretary of Homeland Security and replaced with a Senator from Oklahoma, Markwayne Mullin—sworn in as the 9th Homeland Security Secretary on March 24.
The Department oversees several security, border control, emergency management, and immigration agencies, including CBP, CISA, FEMA, ICE, TSA, FLETC, USCIS, the Coast Guard, and the Secret Service.
Noem was moved to a newly created position, Special Envoy for The Shield of the Americas. The security initiative is a U.S.-led military coalition to combat drug cartels and gangs in the Western Hemisphere.
Trump’s first shake-up was on May 1, 2025, when he relieved former National Security Advisor Mike Waltz from the position following the Signalgate Scandal and alleged White House friction.
Waltz has been serving as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations since last September, while Secretary of State Marco Rubio continues to act as the National Security Advisor.
Commending on Bondi’s work, Trump in a Truth Social post, said the former AG would be “transitioning to a much-needed and important new job in the private sector.”
He described Bondi as “a Great American Patriot and a loyal friend,” who did a great job overseeing a crackdown on crime across the country and decreased homicides “to their lowest level since 1900.”
