A prominent supporter of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Khamis Musa Darazo, has urged political leaders, interest groups and other stakeholders to refrain from politicising national security issues, stressing that Nigeria’s security challenges require collective action rather than partisan divisions.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Darazo said the fight against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes demands unity of purpose and the unwavering commitment of all Nigerians.

He stated that under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, security operations have continued to achieve notable successes through intensified offensives against criminal elements, the rescue of kidnapped victims, the recovery of arms and ammunition, and improved security across many parts of the country.

Darazo commended the Defence Minister, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd.), for his dedication, professionalism and commitment to safeguarding the nation, describing him as a patriotic leader whose efforts have significantly contributed to ongoing gains in the fight against insecurity.

According to him, national security should never be sacrificed on the altar of partisan politics.

“This is the time for all well-meaning Nigerians to rally behind those working tirelessly to defend our country. Christopher Gwabin Musa and our gallant security personnel deserve encouragement, cooperation and national support rather than unnecessary political distractions,” he said.

Darazo added that the improving security situation in several parts of the country is gradually restoring public confidence, boosting economic activities, supporting agricultural production and creating a more conducive environment for investment and national development.

He urged politicians and public office holders to exercise restraint in their comments on security matters and always place national interest above political considerations.

He also called on Nigerians to continue supporting security agencies by providing credible and timely intelligence to aid ongoing operations, noting that lasting peace can only be achieved through a united national effort.

Darazo reaffirmed his confidence in President Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture, expressing optimism that sustained collaboration between the government, security agencies and citizens would continue to deliver positive results in the country’s pursuit of lasting peace, stability and prosperity.
