A 19-year-old man, Abba Yusuf, has allegedly killed his 60-year-old father, Alhaji Dahiru Yusuf Maileather, in the Sarkin-Noma area of Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred at the weekend at about 8:30 a.m. in Sarkin-Noma when Abba stabbed his father, Dahiru Yusuf to death.
The deceased’s elder brother, Alhaji Nuhu Muhammed Bala, who confirmed the incident, said he was at his residence when a relation called to inform him about the tragic incident.
“When my sister called me, she said our brother had been killed by his son. I quickly ran to my brother’s residence only to be told he had been moved to a hospital,” he said.
Bala added that the suspect has been handed over to the police.
He also said that the mother of the suspect and her other two children have fled to an unknown destination.
