Stop parading yourself as Awujale-elect, Fusengbuwa Ruling House warns Reps member, Prince Kuye

…demands lawmaker’s arrest, prosecution by state govt

The Fusengbuwa Ruling House of Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, has sternly warned a member of the House of Representatives, Prince Ademorin Aliyu Kuye to stop parading himself as the Awujale-elect or risk legal prosecution.

The Princes and Princesses of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, the royal family qualified to produce the next Awujale of Ijebuland, issued this warning to Prince Kuye in a statement on Saturday.

The royal family also demanded the arrest and prosecution of Prince Kuye for the violation of the state’s laws on the Awujale selection process.

The statement signed by Barrister Kunle Johnson Adebajo on behalf of the Princes and Princesses of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, declared the alleged action of Hon Kuye as “illegal and capable of causing chaos and unrest in Ijebuland.”

Recall that in January, the Ogun State Government, in a statement by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Hamzat Ganiyu, denied media and social media reports that a particular candidate had been selected as the next Awujale.

The state government’s statement had further warned that any individual or group found fabricating, promoting or circulating such claims will face investigations and prosecution under the law.

The ruling house in its statement stressed that Kuye’s action “violates Ijebuland and Ogun State’s chieftaincy and customary laws as well as proper succession procedures.”

The Fusengbuwa Princes and Princesses added that Kuye’s claim of being the Awujale-elect “borders on pretence to a stool he has not been selected for and a gross violation of the customary law,” infractions which they argued should be taken seriously by the appropriate authorities and punished with appropriate sanctions.

They called for the arrest and prosecution of “anyone, including Hon Kuye, illegally parading themselves as the Awujale-elect,” stressing that such persons “are mere pretenders” who “should be arrested and prosecuted.”

The Fusengbuwa Ruling House Princes and Princesses therefore challenged the Ogun State Government to make good its threat to prosecute anyone violating the laws concerning the Awujale selection, stressing, “Government should not act like a barking dog every time.”

Below is the full statement of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House:

PRESS STATEMENT

Hon ADEMORIN ALIYU KUYE’S FALSE CLAIM OF BEING AWUJALE-ELECT: OUR REACTION, BY THE PRINCES AND PRINCESSES OF THE FUSENGBUWA RULING HOUSE OF IJEBU-ODE, OGUN STATE

It has come to the notice of the Princes and Princesses of Fusengbuwa Ruling House of Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, that a certain Hon. Ademorin Aliyu Kuye has been parading himself as the Awujale-elect.

The purported Awujale-elect, Hon Kuye has even gone further in this illegality to procure the services of a Waka musician, Hamdalat Abeni to record a song praising his fake “selection” as the new Awujale of Ijebuland.

We want to state without equivocation that the action of the said Hon Kuye is illegal and capable of causing chaos and unrest in Ijebuland.

For clarity and the avoidance of doubt, Hon Kuye’s action violates Ijebuland and Ogun State’s chieftaincy and customary laws as well as proper succession procedures.

We, as Princes and Princesses of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, the royal family qualified to produce the next Awujale of Ijebuland, make bold to say that Hon Kuye’s claim of being the Awujale-elect borders on pretence to a stool he has not been selected for and a gross violation of the customary law, infractions which should be viewed seriously by the appropriate authorities and met with appropriate sanction and punishment.

No doubt, Hon Kuye and his supporters’ actions constitute real threats to the peace of the entire Ijebuland!

Again, for further clarity, we want to say that no particular candidate has been chosen as the Awujale-elect. Kuye’s claims and pretension are therefore patently false, as the decision regarding the matter of the candidate for the Awujale stool has yet to be finalised by the appropriate appointing authorities.

We also want to sound a note of warning to the musician, Hamdalat Abeni to be extra-careful in order not to be embroiled in litigations over involvement in the illegal declaration of Kuye as Awujale-elect, particularly for referring to Kuye in her song as “Kabiyesi.”

We therefore call on the Ogun State Government to stop this charade by Hon Kuye and his supporters. They should be immediately called to order; to desist from further violations of the law regarding the filling of the vacant Awujale stool.

In making reference to the letter from the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, office of the Honourable Commissioner dated on 12th January 2026 that Ogun State Government denies claims of an anointed candidate for the stool of Awujale of Ijebuland, signed by Hon Hamzat Ganiyu ,Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Local Government stated in the letter that the Government warned that any individual or group found fabricating ,promoting or circulating such claims will face investigation and prosecution under the law.

Government should not act like barking dog everytime.

Because information gathered from the false claimant of the stool is assuring the Waka musician Hamdat Abeni that nothing will be done to her when the giggles is ongoing.

We also urge unsuspecting members of the public to be wary of the current antics of Hon Kuye and his supporters. The people of Ijebuland and beyond should disregard Hon Kuye’s claim of being the Awujale-elect. He’s a joke, a comedian and outright pretender to the revered Awujale stool.

The general public should note that after due process has been followed and the genuine candidate has been selected, the announcement will be officially made at the appropriate time. For now, anyone, including Hon Kuye, illegally parading themselves as the Awujale-elect are mere pretenders. They should be arrested and prosecuted.

Signed:
Barrister Kunle Johnson Adebajo.
