Personnel of the Nigerian military, on Friday, engaged in fisticuffs in Bayelsa State during the visit of Bola Tinubu to the state.
In a trending 53-second video, a driver of a Hilux vehicle marked “Naval Police” quickly alighted from his vehicle to exchange words with another driver.
But moments after returning to his vehicle, a soldier armed with a rifle approached and landed a blow on the Naval Police driver, resulting in a brawl.
The incident quickly escalated into a free-for-all, as military personnel attached to both vehicles exchanged blows.
Stunned civilians watched the chaotic scene in disbelief.
As of press time, the cause of the altercation could not be ascertained.
The clash reportedly occurred as the President was leaving the venue of an official event during his visit to the state.
President Tinubu was in Bayelsa to inaugurate projects, where he reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to tackle insecurity across the country.
He pledged sustained investment in the nation’s armed forces, stating that his government would continue to equip and train security personnel to confront insurgency, banditry, and other violent threats.
