Salah fears Liverpool return after Diogo Jota’s death

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has expressed deep sorrow following the reported death of his teammate, Diogo Jota, and Jota’s brother, André.

In an Instagram post on Friday, Salah said the news has left him shaken and afraid to return to Liverpool after the international break.

“Until yesterday, I never thought there would be something that would frighten me of going back to Liverpool after the break. Teammates come and go but not like this. It’s going to be extremely difficult to accept that Diogo won’t be there when we go back,” Salah wrote.

The Egyptian forward extended his condolences to the family of the Portuguese player, noting the profound impact of the loss.

“My thoughts are with his wife, his children, and of course his parents who suddenly lost their children. Those close to Diogo and his brother Andre need all the support they can get. They will never be forgotten,” Sallah added.

Jota, who joined Liverpool from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2020, had been a key figure in the club’s attacking setup under Jürgen Klopp and, more recently, Arne Slot.

Known for his versatility and goal-scoring instincts, he contributed significantly to Liverpool’s domestic and European campaigns over the past four years.
