The Acting Chairman of Sagbama Local Government Council, Hon. Roseline Diepreye Robinson Yankee, has invited critical stakeholders to participate in the 2027 Citizens Budget preparations for the Council.
The stakeholders’ engagement is scheduled for Wednesday 16th September 2026 at the Conference Hall of the Sagbama Local Government Council Secretariat.
In her invitation, the Acting Council Boss called on Traditional Rulers, Chiefs, Community Development Committee members across all communities in Sagbama LGA, women and youth groups, and recognised bodies including the National Council for Women Society to take part in the process.
She explained that the meeting is designed to institutionalize a participatory budgeting process that aligns community needs and priorities with the Council’s revenue projections, expenditure framework, and Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF).
According to the Acting Chairman, the decision to open the budget to citizens was deliberate.
“The idea behind this stakeholders’ invitation is to bring the people into the plans of government, not just leaving the budgetary process to officials and experts,” she said.
Hon. Roseline Robinson further highlighted that the process will be anchored on four core principles of public financial management: transparency, participation, accountability, and value-for-money targeting.
She noted that inputs from the grassroots will help the Council to: First, Prioritize capital and recurrent expenditure, based on community realities
Secondly , to ensure fiscal discipline by matching proposed projects with available resources
Thirdly, to Improve budget credibility and implementation through ownership by the people
and lastly, to strengthen service delivery in key sectors like health, education, agriculture, and rural infrastructure.
The Acting Chairman urged all invited groups to come with memoranda and proposals that reflect the immediate needs of their communities, adding that the 2027 budget will be people-centered, realistic, and implementable.
